Important announcement

Is our logo for all our New Zealand bee products including Bio-Gro certified organic honey and other products like boutique honey, comb honey, bee pollen and honey lozenges.
Recently, our Taiwan agent is facing pressure from local government for selling certified organic honey and our agent is forced to pull off all labels with the term ‘organic’ because local government has NO standard for organic honey and hence does not recognise any honey as organic. Our Bio-gro certified organic honey meets the highest level of organic standards and accepted as organic by most countries including EU, US, Canada and Japan, we regret that Taiwan government does not allow her people the right to differentiate the most health honey from other ordinary ones.
To abide local regulation, we have developed the following logo for our products selling in Taiwan and we guarantee that all goods under the new logo are of same quality to those we export to other countries with our original logo.

Raw Honey
All our honeys are premium in sense they are raw, extracted in low temperature and filtered only to block off debris but keep all beneficial ingredients. They are active which means they all have a certain level of ability in killing bacteria.
Antibacterial Activity - UMF, MGO, N-P
The antibacterial nature of honey is defined as its Activity which can be classified as Total Activity and Non-peroxide (N-P) Activity. Scientists used to believe that the ability of killing bacteria in honey comes from hydrogen peroxide which can be easily damaged. In 1990’s, Professor Peter Molan discovered that Manuka honey has a very stable activity other than hydrogen peroxide. Since nobody can identify the material that causes this activity, he called this ability non-peroxide activity. The Active Manuka Honey Association created a patent trade mark UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) to stand for this activity and only her member can use this trade mark. Due to the effort of this association, UMF is a very known name to manuka honey. But in 2008, one substance methyglyoxal (MGO) is isolated among those showing antibacterial nature and because only part of manuka honey producers can use UMF on their activity label, some begin to use MGO to stand for the antibacterial nature of their manuka honey.Non-peroxide measure is linear, i.e. UMF10 is twice as strong as UMF5 and N-P10 is twice as strong as N-P5, but MGO is not linear, i.e. MGO500 is only 5 time as strong as MGO50 and not 10 times as one may expected. Molan has openly criticized this system saying “MGO level not good indicator of honey’s Antibacterial Activity.”*

Our Active Honey
Following the same method used by Molan, we found through laboratory test that many of our honey other than Manuka also show a high level of non-peroxide activity. We decide to use N-P activity to stand for this activity and call all our honey that has this nature Active Honey.
